GINAF introduces the X 5364 T for off-road transport in quarries and mines
As manufacturer of special construction vehicles, GINAF Trucks has developed a new vehicle for off-road transport in quarries and mines.

It is the X 5364 T, a 10x6 with a GVW of 64 tonnes and a net loading capacity of approx. 45 tonnes, depending on the body weight. What makes this new type of vehicle unique is that it combines the dimensions of a normal truck with the loading capacity of a lightweight dump truck.
The 10x6 is ideal for off-road use where high loading capacity and traction are required. The operating costs per tonne for the X 5364 T are significantly lower for than for conventional 4 and 5 axle vehicles. The X 5364 T can carry up to twice as much load on each run, compared to them.
The GVW of 64 tonnes is achieved by using five axles; the first three axles are steered and the last three axles are driven with hydropneumatic suspension (the third axle is steered and driven). The Hydropneumatic Suspension System (Dutch abbreviation HPVS) has been used successfully in GINAF construction vehicles in the Netherlands for many years.
Advantages of HPVS
The HPVS offers considerable advantages compared to leaf-spring suspension. The rear axles are compensated in the best way possible (using long suspension travel), ensuring a completely even axle load distribution. In combination with the 3 driven rear axles this results in unparalleled traction.
Another advantage of the Hydropneumatic Suspension System is the application of several highly practical systems. The vehicle can be fitted with superstabilisation, for example; a system that works as an active rolling stabiliser. This prevents the vehicle from heeling over in bends. An alternative option to HPVS is Lateral Stabilisation. This option prevents the extension of the vehicle while tipping, making it more stable than vehicles with leaf spring or air suspension in such situations. Especially for tipping, practically every GINAF is fitted with a lateral levelling control. This enables the driver to level their vehicle using a control in the cabin. The vehicle is consequently much more stable during tipping as the centre of gravity remains in the centre of the vehicle. Another much used option is the incorporation of a weight indicator. As the name suggests, this gives the driver an indication of the weight of their vehicle.
Heavier variety in Brazil
A year ago GINAF developed a vehicle for use in open-pit mining in Brazil. This vehicle, the X 5376 T, has a loading capacity of approx. 55 tonnes. Its performance is unexpectedly high, especially thanks to the incorporation once again of the Tridem concept (3 driven rear axles), in combination with the Hydropneumatic Suspension System (HPVS).
First X 5364 T delivered
Last week the Austrian company Bärnthaler Trans Kg took delivery of the first GINAF X 5364 T. Bärnthaler uses it to transport broken stone in a quarry. Bärnthaler already had a standard 10x6, the X 5350 TS which the X 5364 T is based on.
GINAF X 5364 T for Bärnthaler Transport KgFor optimum use, the truck has a Paccar MX 340 S2 460 HP EURO 5 engine, in combination with a ZF AS-tronic automatic gearbox with Dual Mode software. Dual Mode enables the driver to choose between road and off-road mode. In the Dual Mode off-road mode, the automatic gearbox switches much more quickly, enhancing the off-road performance.
Custom made
GINAF is able to supply vehicles with a high technical GVW, tailored to suit the location. We can supply both 5-axle vehicles such as those mentioned and vehicles with different axle configurations. By producing vehicles such as the X 5364 T with a high net loading capacity, GINAF is contributing to lower transport costs per tonne per hour and consequently a higher financial yield for the customer.
During the delivery to Bärnthaler of the X 5364 T, film and photos were taken, which are available at our website to view and download.
